New Year's Cheer

For this tutorial you will need

* Tubes of choice, I am using the work of Sonia Roji. It is a PTU Tube which you can purchase from MPT
HERE
(You can use any tube you like.)

* The AWESOME New Year's Scrap Kit I used is from Scraps by Randy's Sin  New Years 2010  which is a FTU kit which you can download from Randy's Sin HERE

Let's Begin

1. Open a new canvas 600 x 600 white background

2. From the New Year's Kit open up the rs_tiara2, edit, copy and edit, paste as a new layer on to your new canvas, then reduce size to 75% by going to "Image" , "Resize" "75%" all layers UNCHECKED

3. From the New Year's Kit open up the rs_bucket, edit, copy and edit, paste as a new layer on to your new canvas, then reduce size to 60% by going to "Image" , "Resize" "60%" all layers UNCHECKED.  Place it over to the right but inside the crown base.  Make sure this layer is your top layer.

4.  What I did was I erased the base of the bucket to make it look like it was inside the crown base.  I will detail here how I did that which you can refer back to throughout the rest of the tutorial as I do that a few more times as well.

I find the best way is to reduce the opacity of the layer I am erasing so that I can see where it overlaps the layer underneath.  In this case I reduced the opacity of the wine bucket down to 55%.  I also zoomed in to 138% so I could get a closer look at the area I was erasing.
(See my print screen below as to what I did)

I then took my eraser tool and erased the part of the bucket that was in front of the crown base.
Eraser Tool Settings I used (see print screen below)
Shape: square,  Size: 16,  Hardness:  100,  Step:  10,  Density:  100,   Thickness:  100,  Rotation:  0,  Opacity:  100

Take your eraser tool and just erase the bottom of the bucket that is overlapping the base of the crown.  It should now look like it's inside the crown
(see my print screen below for how mine looks)

5.  From the New Year's Kit open up the rs_champaigneglass3, edit, copy and edit, paste as a new layer on to your new canvas, then reduce size to 55% by going to "Image" , "Resize" "55%" all layers UNCHECKED.  Place it over to the right, to the left of the bucket.  Make sure this layer is your top layer and erase the bottom of the wine glass that is in front of the crown base the same way we erased the bottom of the bucket.
(see my print screen below as to how mine looks)

6.  From the New Year's Kit open up the rs_bow5, edit, copy and edit, paste as a new layer on to your new canvas, then reduce size to 20% by going to "Image" , "Resize" "20%" all layers UNCHECKED.  Place it on top of the bow that is on the wine glass.

7.  Open your tube of choice and place to your liking.  I also erased parts of my tube *her leg* to make it look like she was crouched partially inside the crown and outside.
(see my print screen below for what I have so far)

8.  From the New Year's Kit open up the rs_wa4, edit, copy and edit, paste as a new layer on to your new canvas, then reduce size to 55% by going to "Image" , "Resize" "55%" all layers UNCHECKED.  Place the wordart near the bottom (or wherever you prefer).  I again used the same technique as explained earlier in the tutorial to erase part of the word art where it overlaps her leg to make it look like she's intertwined in the wordart.

9.  You can now add the appropriate copyright information and save as a JPG if you do not want to animate it.

If you'd like to animate as I have done in the sample tag continue below.

ANIMATION

1.  Click on your wordart layer to activate it

2.  Take your magic wand tool and click on the outer gold outline of the wordart until you have marching ants JUST AROUND the gold outline not the whole wordart.
The best settings I found to do this with are as follows;
(you'll have to click around the outline a few times before you'll completely have it selected)
(see print screen below)

Mode: Add(shift),  Match mode:  RGB Value,  Tolerance:  102,  Contiguous checked, Feather:  0, Anti-alias checked,  Inside

3.  Right Click on your cheers wordart layer and "duplicate". Rename this Layer   Wordart 2"

4. Right Click on Wordart 2" and "duplicate. Rename this Layer "Wordart 3"
You should now have 3 wordart layers

5. Hide your "Wordart Layer 2" and " Wordart Layer 3" layers by clicking on the eye. You will see a red x appear over the eye.
(see print screen below)

6. Now make sure you have your "Bottom Wordart Layer" activated by clicking on it.

7. Go to "Adjust",  "Add/Remove Noise",  "Add Noise" and use the following settings
(see print screen below)
Random - checked,  Noise - 40%,  Monochrome UNCHECKED

8. Hide your "Bottom Wordart Layer" by clicking on the "eye".

9. Click on "Wordart 2" and unhide this layer by clicking on the eye and make sure you activate the layer by clicking on it.

10. Go to  Go to "Adjust",  "Add/Remove Noise",  "Add Noise" and use the same settings previously EXCEPT CHANGE the NOISE TO 45%

11. Hide your "Wordart2" by clicking on the "eye".

12. Click on "Wordart 3" and unhide this layer by clicking on the eye and make sure you activate the layer by clicking on it.

13. Go to  Adjust",  "Add/Remove Noise",  "Add Noise" and use the same settings previously EXCEPT CHANGE the NOISE TO 50%

14. Hide your "Wordart3" by clicking on the "eye".

15. Click on "Bottom wordart Layer" and unhide this layer by clicking on the eye and make sure you activate the layer by clicking on it.

16.  **I ALSO ANIMATED THE "HAPPY NEW YEAR" ON THE CROWN FOLLOWING THE SAME SETTINGS AS I DID FOR ADDING NOISE TO THE WORDART.  YOU CAN DO THIS AS WELL IF YOU CHOOSE**  You would duplicate the Tiara Layer 2 times so you have 3 tiara layers, use your magic wand tool again, click inside all the letters (again clicking numerous times to get all the letters selected), add noise to each layer with the same settings we used for the wordart.  When animating below hide and unhide those layers the same time and way I describe below for the wordart.

**NOW IT'S TIME TO ANIMATE YOUR IMAGE**

* Open up your Animation Shop

* Once Animation Shop has opened, go back to your Paint Shop Pro.

* Make sure your "wordart2" and "wordart3" layers are hidden and your bottom wordart layer is active by clicking on it.
(if you have added noise to the Happy New Year as well do the same to those layers as described in this step)

* Along the top of your drop down menus choose "Edit", "Copy Merged"

* Go to Animation Shop and along the top of your drop down menu's choose "Edit" "Paste as New Animation"

* Go back to Paint shop Pro. Hide your " Bottom Wordart Layer", Click on " Wordart 2" and uhide it.

(if you have added noise to the Happy New Year as well do the same to those layers as described in this step)

* Along the top of your drop down menus choose "Edit", "Copy Merged"

* Go to Animation Shop and along the top of your drop down menu's choose "Edit" "Paste after Current Frame"

* Go back to Paint shop Pro. Hide your " Wordart2" Layer, Click on " Wordart3" and uhide it.

(if you have added noise to the Happy New Year as well do the same to those layers as described in this step)

* Along the top of your drop down menus choose "Edit", "Copy Merged"

* Go to Animation Shop and along the top of your drop down menu's choose "Edit" "Paste after Current Frame"

* You should now have 3 frames in Animation Shop.
(see print screen below)

**What I like to do now is take a look at it and see how it will look before I save it. You can do this by going to the top of your drop down menu's and clicking on "view" "animation" You can see exactly how it will look. **

Here's another tip for you. You can change the speed of your noise. You will do this by first clicking on "Edit" "Select all".

* Next go to the top of your drop down menu's and choose "Animation" "Frame Properties" you will see a box appear

You can now change the display time of the image (the speed). The higher the number, the slower the animation will be. The lower the number the faster the animation will be.

You are ALL DONE!!  I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial
