Cherished Friends

For this tutorial you will need

* This fabulous FTU Scrap Kit (Spring Fever) is from Connies Creative Chaos which you can download from Connie's Creative Chaos Blog(scroll down it's about 1/4 down the page) HERE

Wordart which you can download
HERE
(I have searched for the creaters of the wordart and cannot seem to find them. PLEASE if anyone knows who did either of these pieces of wordart contact me and I will direct the download to their blog/site if required)

Let's Begin

1. Open a new canvas 600 x 600 transparent background

2. From the Spring Fever Kit open up the Spring Frame 1 - "edit", "copy" and "edit", "paste as a new layer" on to your new canvas, (don't worry it's there you just can't see it yet until you reduce the size) then reduce size to 10% by going to
"Image" , "Resize" "10%" all layers UNCHECKED.

3.   Now we're going to rotate the frame slightly by doing the following;
image, rotate, free rotate, left checked, free checked 25%, All layers and rotate single layer around canvas
UNCHECKED
(see my print screens below for settings)

4. On your layer palette right click on the frame layer you just rotated and
"duplicate"

5. "Image", "Mirror" and move your duplicated layer down a bit so the two frames are slightly overlapping at the bottom
 (see print screen below for what I did)

6.  Click on one of your frame layers is slected by clicking on it then select your magic wand tool and use the following settings
Mode - Add shift, Match Mode - RBG Value, Tolerance - 32, Contiguous - checked, anti alias checked, inside Feather - 0
(see print screen below)

7.   Click the frame layer with the magic wand tool. You should see running ants around the inside of the frame.

8.
Selections, modify, expand 2

9. From the Spring Fever Kit open up the Spring Flower 1 "edit", "copy" and on your main canvas
"edit" "paste as a new layer".

10.  Reduce size to 18% by going to
"Image" , "Resize" "18%" all layers UNCHECKED.  Move the face of the flower in the centre of the frame

11.  "Selections", "invert" and hit the "delete" key on your keyboard and move that layer below your frame layer. "Selections", "Select none"

12.   Click your other frame layer with the magic wand tool. You should see running ants around the inside of the frame.

13.
Selections, modify, expand 2

14. From the Spring Fever Kit open up the Spring Flower 2 "edit", "copy" and on your main canvas
"edit" "paste as a new layer".

15.  Reduce size to 18% by going to
"Image" , "Resize" "18%" all layers UNCHECKED.  Move the face of the flower in the centre of the frame

16.  "Selections", "invert" and hit the "delete" key on your keyboard and move that layer below your frame layer. "Selections", "Select none"

17.  Right click on any layer on your layers palette and "Merge Visible"
(see print screen for what mine looked like at this point.)

18.  Open up Spring Paper 4 and  Reduce size to 20% by going to
"Image" , "Resize" "20%" all layers CHECKED.

19.  "Edit",  "Copy",
then go back to your main canvas and "edit", "paste as a new layer".  Move this layer below your merged frames layer.

20.  Now we're going to add a frame by doing the following;
Image, Picture Frame, Frame Canvas CHECKED, Frame inside of the image CHECKED
(see print screens below for settings)

21.  Open up the "Friends" wordart and "edit", "copy" and go back to your main canvas and "edit", "paste as a new layer" and move it to the bottom of the frame.  Make sure this layer is your top layer.

22.  I colorized my friends wordart to match the blue (this is optional)  I did this by going to "Adjust", "Hue & Saturation", "Colorize" and I set my "Hue to 131" and "Saturation to 191"  Add a drop shadow of choice to wordart (Effects, 3deffects, Drop Shadow)
(see my print screen below for what i have so far)

23.  Open up your "Cherish Every Moment Wordart" and you can do 1 of 2 things with it just copy and paste it on to your main canvas and move it to the top of your frame.  The wodart would then remain the same color (black) OR you can turn it into a custom brush and then you have the freedom to make it any color you like.  I usually turn my wordart into custom brushes so I have this option.  If you'd like to do this follow the steps inbetween the "start of custom brush insert" and "end of custom brush insert"  if not then just skip past this part of the tutorial.

***start of custom brush insert**

If you'd like to turn it into a custom brush the following steps are how you do this;

*  Click on the wordart to make it active
*  File, Export, Custom Brush (see print screen below)

*  A box will appear where you can name the custom brush I named mine CHERISHEDFRIENDS, Saved variance CHECKED, Step set at 32 click
ok

* Now you can go find your newly made custom brush by choosing your brush tool from and arrowing down in the presets box until you find your new brush and click on it
(see my print screen below)

*  On your materials palette in the foreground and stroke properties change the color to one you like.  I used color #1fc4d2
* Now add a new layer and make sure it's the top layer
*  Click on it using your paint brush and you now have your wordart in the color you like.  I then added a drop shadow of white to mine.

***end of custom brush insert**

24.  Now you can add anything else you'd like to your tag such as a name etc.

25.  Because we are not using any PTU tubes for this tag and everything is from the scrap kit I like to give the scrap kit designer credit.  You can do this by adding;
Scrap Kit By: Connie's Creative Chaos
http://www.creativescrapsstore.com/

26.   Reduce the size to 90% by going to "Image" , "Resize" "90%" all layers CHECKED.

27.  You can now right click on any layer in your layer's palette and
"merge visible".  Save as a jpg.

You're ALL DONE!!
I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial.
